Our logo, the Bristlecone Pine (Pinus longaeva), was selected for the symbolism the Bristlecone represents with its remarkable longevity and  ability to survive in adverse growing conditions. In fact, it seems one secret to the pines' durability is the harsh environment which most Bristlecones grow. Most Bristlecones are found in high elevations, above the tree line where they grow slowly and fairly consistently, though some years they may not grow at all. This slow growth makes their wood very dense and resistant to insects, fungi, rot, and erosion. The vast, deep root system helps the tree withstand fire and drought. While a Bristlecone will grow more rapidly in a lower environment with the rest of the vegetation, here they are unable to achieve their legendary age, hardiness, and character defined by their unique twisting shapes.
